Giving Back: A Sustainable Approach
Giving Back’ reinforces what the SGD is majoring on and underlines its commitment to encourage biodiversity, lower the carbon footprint in the gardens it designs and creates by the use of upcycled and recycled materials. An awareness of conserving water together with the practicalities of runoff is increasingly important, while the inclusion of species that not only benefit the garden in which they are set, but also link into the wider landscape or urban setting enables a chain of rich and diverse habitats.
BIO
Helen runs her design studio from a base in the beautiful New Forest, working across the UK with private clients. Elks-Smith Garden Design is an award-winning practice with a reputation for creating timeless design that is sensitive both to the clients and to the wider landscape. The portfolio ranges from residential homes to country estates. Helen has a received a number of high profile awards including recognition from the Society of Garden Designers (SGD), the British Association of Landscape Industries (BALI) and the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS). Helen is a Fellow of the Society of Garden Designers, and was recently seen in series 1& 2 of BBC’s Your Garden Made Perfect.
